Nigerian Father Who Slept With Daughter For Eight Years, Impregnates Her Arrested

Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested a 45-year- old man, Julius Ochim, for allegedly impregnating his own daughter (name withheld), and the victim had a baby girl for him. The suspect was said to have been arrested following a complaint by his daughter, who reported the randy father at the Sagamu Divisional headquarters of the command. Three-year-old marriage between a businesswoman, Mrs Nelly Ibegbu, and her estranged husband, Donatus, was on Tuesday dissolved by an Igando Customary Court in Lagos over infidelity. Fake Soldier Jailed Over 7m Job Scam

A Minna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 32-year-old man, Tanko Mohammed, to three years’ imprisonment for parading himself as a military man and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of N7m under the pretext of job placement in the Nigeria Army. Mohammed was docked on four-count charge of criminal breach of trust, cheating, impersonating a public servant and criminal charms. The Police Prosecutor, ASP Daniel Ikwoche, told the court that one Diko Barde had filed a petition against the accused person at the IGP monitoring unit, Minna office on July 9. Ikwoched quoted Barde as alleging that in March 2017, the accused person came to him claiming to be a soldier serving with the Nigeria Army Depot, Zaria. He said the accused told Barde that he had slots for 42 candidates to be recruited into the Nigeria Army. Man, 29, Arrested, Arraigned For Stealing Two Pigs

A 29-year-old man, Segla Bologna, who stole two pigs worth N70,000, on Monday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State. Bologna, whose address was unknown, was arraigned on a charge of stealing. The Prosecutor, Inspector   Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 21, 2018 at Topo Garage in Badagry. Ikem said the stolen pigs belonged to the complainant, Mr Idowu Thomas. “The accused saw the pigs roaming on the street and he decided to steal them thinking no one would notice. He was about driving away with them in his car before he was apprehended by the owner,” he said. The offence contravenes Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety in like sum. He adjourned the case until Sept. 10, for further hearing. (NAN)

PFN enroll 1,000 prisoners for SSCE

A Christian group, Prison Fellowship Nigeria (PFN), Niger State Chapter, is to sponsor 1,000 prisoners to register for the WAEC and NECO-organised Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations in the next five years. Three INEC Officers In Prison Over N179.8m Fraud

By Josephine Ella-Ejeh Three officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ogun state, have been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegation of money laundering to the tune of N179.8 million. Yemi Akinwonmi, Dickson Atiba and Ogunmodede Oladayo were arraigned on Monday before Justice Sule Hassan of a Federal High Court, Lagos, over on eight counts bordering on conspiracy, benefiting from crime proceeds, receiving cash sums without going through financial institutions and accepting cash exceeding amount authorised by the law. The trio allegedly received the said money from various commercial banks sometime in March 2015, in the build-up to the year’s General Elections, the offences which   contravenes the provisions of Sections 15(2)(d), 16 (d) 1(a), 16 (1) (d),16 (d) and 18 (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 as amended. Breaking: Imo Deputy Governor Impeached

By Josephine Ella-Ejeh The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has been impeached. Channels Television reports that Madumere was impeached by 19 of the 37 members of the Imo House of Assembly. The Assembly had earlier received a report by a panel set up by the state chief judge which allegedly indicted the deputy governor of gross misconduct. Madumere has been having a political tussle  with Governor Rochas Okorocha over who succeeds him in 2019. While he  seeks to succeed Okorocha, the governor is said to be  supporting his son-in-law. The crisis, it would seem, assumed a more worrisome dimension during the APC local and state congresses in the state with Mr Okorocha and his deputy supporting separate factions. Police  Arrest 5 For   Kidney-Smuggling  By Josephine Ella-Ejeh Police in Nepal have arrested five men in connection with a kidney-smuggling racket.  The suspects were allegedly luring poor people to hospitals in India to have their kidneys removed and sold, a police official said Monday. Three of  the five men, who are in their late 20s and early 40s, were arrested in Chitwan district in south-central Nepal while  one was arrested  in the capital Kathmandu and the other neighbouring Rasuwa district, a deputy superintendent of police in Chitwan  Prabhu Dhakal . “The smugglers made the victims undergo medical tests in Kathmandu and sent them to India for transplant,” Dhakal said. 14 Killed, 160 Others Injured In Indonesia Earth Quake

At least 14 people were killed and over 160 injured after a large earthquake struck a popular island in Indonesia near the popular tourist destination of Bali on Sunday, officials said. The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck at a depth of only 4.4 miles. Shallow earthquakes tend to do more damage than deeper ones. The powerful temblor, which was followed by two smaller earthquakes and 60 aftershocks, hit the Lombok island, with the eastern part of the island sustained more language. “People in East Lombok and Mataram felt the strong quake for 10 seconds, residents were panicking and running outside of their homes,” said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for Indonesia’s Disaster Mitigation Agency, according to Sky News. The quake killed a 30-year-old Malaysian woman in East Lombok, and the number of causalities could rise as officials search the island, Nugroho said. The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a suspected fake currency note producer. The Command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement in Enugu on Sunday that the suspect, one Collins Oputa, was nabbed on July 26, 2018. Amaraizu noted that the feat was achieved by police operatives of the Ogui Police Division of the Command. DPO Escapes With Four Suspects As Angry Youths Attack Police Station

The irate youth from the community,  during the Saturday  evening attack, demanded that the three suspected bandits arrested by the army  and handed over to the police be released to them. 6.0 Magnitude Earth Quake Hits Indonesia

A deep 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off eastern Indonesia on Saturday, the United States Geological Survey said, but there was no tsunami warning. The strong quake was centered about 100 miles (160 kilometers) north-northeast of Maumere town on the island of Flores, the USGS said, at a depth of 360 miles. Indonesia, an archipelago of thousands of islands, sits on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismic activity hotspot. It is frequently hit by quakes, most of them harmless. However, the archipelago remains acutely alert to tremors that might trigger tsunamis. In 2004 a tsunami triggered by a magnitude 9.3 undersea earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, in western Indonesia, killed 220,000 people in countries around the Indian Ocean, including 168,000 in Indonesia. Oshiomhole Indicts Governor Ortom Of Masterminding Benue Killings

Herdsmen Killings: Miyetti Allah Blasts Gowon, Boast Police Cannot Arrest Its Leaders
