A 33-year-old man, David Victor who was accused of raping a co-tenant's 16-year-old daughter is to spend the next 25 days in the Kirikiri Prison.
Victor was said to have lured the teenager into his room on November 2017, after which he forcefully had sex with her.
“Victor also threatened to kill her if she dared to tell anyone about the crime he committed. The girl’s parents, who reside in the same compound with the accused, reported the case to the police after their daughter narrated her ordeal,’’ said Inspector Christopher John, who is prosecuting for the police.
He said the offence contravenes Section 262 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused who resides at No. 2, Bode Tobus St., Dopemu, Agege, Lagos, is facing a count charge of rape and was arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Ruling on the matter, Chief Magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka, remanded Victor pending advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the case.
Nwaka directed that the case file should be sent to the DPP for the advice and adjourned until Aug. 30 for mention.
