Man Stabs Customer With Knife In Benin

A 30-year-old man, Muhammad Hassan, was on Wednesday docked at an Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin City for allegedly stabbing his customer, Mr Emeka Nwoku, with a knife.

Hassan is being tried for causing bodily harm.

Police Prosecutor Patrick Agbonifo told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 29.

Agbonifo said that the offence contravened Section 335 of the Criminal Code, Laws of the defunct Bendel State now applicable in

Edo State.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

Ruling on the bail application of the accused, the Magistrate, Mrs I.A. Osayande, granted him bail in the sum of N190,000 and a
surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case until August 16, 2014 for hearing. (NAN)

Ooni Dismiss Rumours of Resurgence of Ife-Modakeke War

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has rubbished the reports that farmers killed in Toro village, Modakeke is a renewed crisis between Modakeke and Ife. Ooni described the killing in Modakeke as sheer criminality. "What happened at Toro village was sheer criminality and the long hand of the law would soon catch up with the perpetrators,” Ooni stated.
