Tears, Emotions as Osinbajo’s Wife Visits Family of Late Chief of Army Staff, Others

 

There was shed loads of emotions and tears as the wife of the Vice President of Nigeria, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo visited the wife and family of late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru.

Mrs Osinbajo who paid a visit to seven of the families, all of whom reside in Abuja, conveyed the message of the President and First Lady. She was among early callers at the residence of the COAS on Friday soon after the news got out. Since then reports say she has been visiting the relatives of the departed everyday.

In what was a very emotive scene, Mrs Osinbajo could be seen embracing the wives of the departed officers.


When she arrived at the residence of Mrs Attahiru, she was received by Mrs Victoria Irabor, the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor.

She assured Mrs Attahiru and family that both the President and his VP would ensure that the memories of the COAS and all the military officers involved would not be forgotten.

She was then accompanied by leaders of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) to pay condolence visits to the families of six other families over the weekend.

Nigeria has Africa’s highest out-of-school children

  Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba said that Nigeria has an estimated 10,193,918 Out-of-School Children, the highest in sub-Saharan Africa. Nwajiuba stated this during the inauguration of “Better Education Service Delivery For All (BESDA)”, in Katsina on Monday. The programme started in 2018. According to him, the Nigerian Education system is characterised by high illiteracy level and infrastructural decay. “We have inadequate number of qualified teachers, inadequate infrastructural facilities/resources and poor funding,” he added. Nwajiuba congratulated the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, on his giant stride to reposition education in the state. He said this is a clear demonstration of high leadership quality and personal commitment to education. The minister stated that BESDA focuses on 17 states in the country, including all 13 states of the North-West and North-East geo-political zones. Niger, Oyo, Ebonyi and Rivers are also included.
