SSA to Governor Ortom on Water Resources Loses Dad @ 98

Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Benue State Governor on Water Resources, Engr. Ejembi Candidus Ella has announced the passing on of his father Pa Jerome Abalike Ella. 

Pa Jerome who passed on in the early hours of December 27, 2022 after a brief illness was aged 98. Until his demise, he was the eldest man in his village, Ogene and second to the eldest in  Amejo in Edumoga District of Okpokwu local Government area, Benue state.

The late Pa Jerome is survived by his two brothers, sister, six children, 85 grandchildren and great grandchildren, survive him. Prominent among his children are the SSA to Governor Samuel Ortom, Engr Candidus Ella who is the immediate past General Manager of Benue State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (BERWASSA), former Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Late Prof.  Olekwu Benjamin Ella who served eight years before his unfortunate death in a ghastly motor accident on June 1, 2015. 

Others are Mr. John U. Ella, Deputy Director, Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, Dr. Adakole Boniface Ella, Dean Students Affairs, Benue State Polythecnic, Ugbokolo, Mrs Veronica Onuh, Mrs Mary O. Ogbole, Assistant Director, SUBEB, Benue State and Mrs Comfort O. Ogbanje, Head of Registry, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Makurdi, Benue State.

A statement issued by Engr. Ella on behalf of the family, described Pa Jerome as a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and a God fearing man. 

The statement said although the family is grateful to God for a live well lived, the late Pa Jerome will be missed greatly. While describing the deceased further as a good man to the core, peaceful, loving, very accommodating and kind fellow who treats everyone equally and one who is highly committed to the progress of his children and his acquaintances and people he came across, the family prayed that the Almighty God will grant him eternal life in the great beyond. 

 “He was a very good man who looked out for the good of everyone around him. Throughout his lifetime, he lived peacefully with everyone he came across. We will miss him very much. We submit to the total will of the Almighty God who has been so magnanimous to have given him a long live while on earth,” the statement read. 

 According to the family, the burial arrangements will be announced later. 

 Late Pa Jerome Abalike Ella was born in the year 1924 to the family of Ella Olekwu of Ogene- Amejo in Edumoga District of Okpokwu local Government area, Benue state. Although he had little formal education up to Class 4- just enough to write his name and sign his signature, but he was not lacking in native intelligence and wisdom and ensured that all his children received quality education.

CITAD Faults FEC’s Approval of FCT Land SWAP Initiative, Call for Suspension
